ProviDRs Care became operational as Wichita Preferred Provider Association in 1985 as managed care began to take hold in Kansas.  In response to local demand, WPPA, as it later became known as, began by providing utilization review which later led to contracting with providers for discounts in exchange for steerage to their facilities.  Today, the PPO network has expanded across the state to include access to the majority of providers in rural and metropolitan communities providing access to most specialties and tertiary care services.

At ProviDRs Care, we recognize the importance of providing high quality health care at an affordable cost.  Each contracting physician or hospital has agreed to competitive reimbursement schedules with hard dollar savings for the consumer that can be measured.  Each of our physicians has passed an extensive credentialing and approval process that is URAC-accredited. Likewise, our hospital providers are among the top, quality-leading health systems in the area.

ProviDRs Care is Kansas’ only physician owned and managed PPO network in the state. Formerly known as WPPA and operational since 1985, ProviDRs Care works in partnership with insurance agents, brokers, insurance carriers, third party administrators, employers, health care providers and facilities to deliver cost-effective health services for Kansans.

ProviDRs Care enables there to be choice of health care plans by leasing its network to self-funded plans  and insurance carriers. ProviDRs Care serves as the statewide PPO network for 15 nationally recognized carriers and 28 third party administrators.

Owned by the Medical Society of Sedgwick County, ProviDRs Care PPO network is built to deliver convenient access to complete healthcare services from physicians and hospitals that are highly respected in their communities. The network includes more than 11,000 practitioners, 157 hospitals and 700 outpatient facilities throughout Kansas as well as parts of Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri. By contracting with ProviDRs Care, these providers agree to perform healthcare services at a reduced fee.

Consumers with coverage accessing our network have lower out-of-pocket costs for healthcare services when they use a network provider.
