Protecting self-insurance would safeguard Tennesseans' health

Recently, Tennessee's own Senator Lamar Alexander brokered a bipartisan compromise that could stabilize the Affordable Care Act's individual insurance markets. It remains uncertain whether or not Congress will formally act on his bill until later this year. 

In the meantime, Senator Alexander should turn his deal-making efforts to another bill that is currently before the Senate -- one that would safeguard the health benefits of the majority of Tennesseans who get their coverage through work. The "Self-Insurance Protection Act" deserves the Senate's quickest approval.
